  1. What is OmicShare?[top]
  2. OmicShare is a secure collaborative platform that enables scientists to easily store, manage and share all types of instrumental and analytical data files for project management in biomedical research.   It facilitates research collaborations and reduces the risk of data loss.   OmicShare has a user friendly interface accessed through an Internet browser.  Data files are uploaded to the system underlying a robust database (The database can be any one of the relational databases, such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) by selecting, coping, or simple drag-and-drop files.   OmicShare allows users to upload/download multiple subfolders and files by a simple click.  Folders or files can be granted different permissions to other collaborators by the data suppliers or system administrator.  OmicShare allows users to share files with collaborators quickly, easily, and professionally. Users can securely and quickly navigate to the projects in which they are involved to communicate with other collaborators inside and outside their organizations, upload/download single or multiple data file(s) by one click.

  4. It is essential to maintain strict data confidentiality for both ethical and scientific reasons.  Our system is developed on a secure server with secure login-based access.
  5. How do I upload data to OmicShare?[top]
  6. After logging in, click "Add Folder", type a project name in the "Title" field and some words to describe the project in the "Description" field.   Click the folder that you created, you will see "Upload Files" at the middle tool bar.   Click the "Upload Files", a new window will be popped up.  Then upload your data to the OmicShare by selecting, coping, or simple drag-and-drop files.
  7. How do I share data with other collaborators?[top]
  8. When you need to share a folder or file with other collaborators, click "Share" at the right of the folder or file, then a new window will be popped up.   Click "Perform Search", select the collaborators who have already registered on the system, then click "Assign Local Role to the Selected User(s)".   Click "Done" when the sharing procedure is done.
  9. How do I move folders or files in the system?[top]
  10. When you need to move a folder or file in the system, click "Move" at the right of the folder or file, then a new window will be popped up.   Select where (destination) to move the folder or file, then click "Move" button.   Click "Done" when the moving procedure is done.
  11. How do I download data from OmicShare?[top]
  12. After logging in, users can download files one by one by clicking the name of a specfic file or "Download" at the right of a specfic file in the system.  OmicShare also allows users to download multiple subfolders and files in one http request by clicking "Download Folder".
